USA Network

Overview:

USA Network is an American basic cable and satellite television channel that is owned by the NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group division of NBCUniversal. The network's headquarters are located in New York City. The Channel originally launched on September 22, 1977, as Madison Square Garden Sports Network, a joint venture between Jerry Lewis' Tele-Communications Inc. (TCI) and Viacom. The channel was designed to showcase sporting events from around the world, including tennis matches, boxing matches, and eventually other live sporting events such as Major League Baseball games. In its early years, the channel aired a variety of sports programming, including basketball games from the then-newly formed NBA on the network.

Since its inception, USA Network has been one of the top networks for quality programming. It is home to some of the most successful original series in cable television history, including “Monk”, “Psych”, “Burn Notice”, and “Suits.” The network has also been a leader in sports programming, airing live WWE Raw and SmackDown events, as well as major sporting events like the US Open Tennis Championships. In recent years, USA has continued to grow its slate of original programming with hits like “Mr. Robot” and " Colony". The network is also home to successful acquired series like “NCIS” and “Law & Order: SVU.”
